The Skin & Cancer Foundation Australia has been a stalwart in providing care to Australians for nearly 50 years. It has established itself as a premier facility in Australia for Dermatological Clinical Services, Education, Research, and Clinical Trials. It also provides Micrographically Orientated Histographic Surgery (MOHs) to our patients which is a technique that minimises physical and psychological trauma to a patient by reducing the depth of excision to a skin lesion if required. We have also run comprehensive skin check programs for several years to prevent and detect early signs of skin cancer and minimise wait times to see experts.
We are at a point in the organisations growth where we need support from aligned organisations to further our reach and a particular area of funding and support. We are seeking assistance in this to support our footprint in regional Australia where there is a massive demand for services (currently we operate in Dubbo in an outreach setup). Sponsorship of registrars (doctors that are in training to become specialist dermatologists) for this program would be invaluable and most importantly we want to run Skin Check Clinics in rural NSW with our specialist outreach doctor model, to educate and support people in regional NSW who find it too hard or too costly to go to Metropolitan areas for medical service and skin checks. Funding would allow us to cover the costs of running these clinics and help bridge the gap in healthcare access through delivery of expert dermatology care.
