Somebody’s Daughter Theatre Company (SDTC) is a unique company of artists whose mission is to work with the most marginalised in our community, empower them and give them a voice.
SDTC’s arts practice provides opportunities for disadvantaged young people, women in prison and post-release to break cycles of abuse, addiction and disengagement – offering them effective and sustainable pathways to formal education, training, employment, health/welfare services and community inclusion.
Through the creation of high-quality drama, art and film with vulnerable communities, we reach diverse audiences – including key policymakers, workers in the justice, health and education sectors, school students, teachers and community members – to raise awareness of the complex issues facing our program participants, and inspiring personal, social and systemic change.
SDTC works with:
– Women in prison – since 1981
– Women post-release – since 1990
– Marginalised young people in Regional Victoria – since 2001
– Disengaged young people in Greater Geelong – since 2015 (full-time education program – local partnership)
