South Port Day Links

South Port Day Links (SPDL) is a community-based not-for-profit organisation that has been supporting residents of the City of Port Phillip and the City of Melbourne for almost 40 years. Our purpose is to reduce social isolation and ensure people experiencing barriers to mobility or participation remain connected to their community.

SPDL provides accessible, low-cost community transport and volunteer-led support programs for people who may otherwise struggle to access essential services and social opportunities. Our clients include older people, people living with disability, carers, and residents experiencing social isolation. Many of the people we support come from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, including First Nations people.
Each year SPDL supports more than 1,000 clients and delivers over 11,000 transport trips, enabling people to attend medical appointments, access services, go shopping, and participate in community life. Demand continues to grow, with a further 4,000 trips projected in the 2026–27 financial year.

Our work is delivered by a small professional team supported by a dedicated network of volunteer drivers and community volunteers. In addition to transport services, SPDL operates support programs such as Walk Mates, Pet Mates and Garden Mates, helping people remain socially connected and supported at home.

By combining practical assistance with strong community relationships, SPDL helps ensure vulnerable residents remain connected, independent and included while building stronger, more compassionate local communities.
