SpinalCure is Australia's premier not-for-profit organisation funding cure-focussed research for spinal cord injury. SpinalCure's mission is to cure spinal cord injury (SCI). We are committed to funding breakthrough research, technologies, and creative thinking that will make a cure for spinal cord injury a reality. We collaborate with Australian and international partners and are leading a National Roadmap to a Cure for Spinal Cord Injury, with a five year vision to not only develop Australia's first treatment for SCI, but for it to be available and affordable for for 20,000+ Australians living with an SCI.

When the organisation was established 30 years ago, a cure was believed impossible. Now with increasing awareness and having leveraged over $30M in funding over six years, and significant pre-clinical research and clinical trials underway, there is notable progress in our understanding of SCI.

While the results of our first clinical trial are imminent, the anecdotal stories are nothing short of extraordinary. Mother of three, Sheree P., walked for the first time in 14 years on the final week of her trial period, supported by only a single crutch an callipers. Sheree participated in Project Spark's 'eWalk' and experienced neurostimulation, the world’s most anticipated experimental therapy for SCI, a technology SpinalCure are proud to be the first to bring to Australia.

A cure is finally on the horizon. Funding will allow SpinalCure to continue expanding Project Spark neurostimulation trials throughout the country, providing the opportunity to more paraplegics and quadriplegics to experience this potentially life-changing therapy.
