Organisation Summary

St Laurence House (SLH) is a well-established, community-based organisation providing supported accommodation and transitional housing to young people experiencing homelessness. SLH has been supporting young people for the past 49 years, providing not just shelter, but safety, stability, and the foundation to build a better future. Our work is grounded in the belief that all young people deserve the opportunity to thrive, despite their circumstances.

Our Programs
Fully Supported Accommodation
Our fully supported program accommodates young people 13-18 years of age who are experiencing homelessness.
Up to five young people live on-site, where they receive intensive, 24/7 support from our team. It’s a safe, structured homelike environment that helps young people stabilise, build their living skills, and focus on education. Young people stay with us until they are ready for the next step in their journey to independence in our transitional housing program.

Transitional Housing
Our transitional housing program gives young people the chance to live more independently by supporting them in units within the community. We work in partnership with a Community Housing provider who provides a one-bedroom unit and the SLH team of qualified staff provide the support to help guide the young people to learn and manage on their own.

At SLH, our goal is not simply to support young people through homelessness, it’s to help them leave homelessness services altogether. Our model prioritises stability over short-term fixes. Success, for us, means seeing young people transition out of the homelessness system entirely into secure housing.
