St Mary’s House of Welcome is an open access centre in Fitzroy providing basic essential services to people who are sleeping rough, chronically homeless and experiencing poverty, severe and persistent mental health issues, and those who are extremely isolated and socially marginalized, providing meals, practical support such as showers, toiletries, clean clothes, recreational activities, emergency relief, referral information, case management, drug and alcohol counselling and a range of health promotion activities.
St Mary’s House of Welcome has been serving men and women experiencing homelessness, disadvantage, social isolation, and mental health issues in Melbourne for over 60 years. We understand, that for many of those we help, rehabilitation is not a likely outcome. We provide purposeful, individualised and group support, and work towards realistic client outcomes, including helping people out of entrenched homelessness.
Our fundamental purpose is to enable people who are homeless, disadvantaged and socially isolated to be nourished and safe, to have practical support and to find hope, experience belongingness and reach their full potential.
