In the creative arts industry, there are almost no opportunities for people with disabilities. Stars and the Moon is driven by this crucial need. Established in 2021, our organisation is dedicated to bridging this gap, empowering individuals with disabilities towards a full-scale musical theatre production, and to exploring their talents in theatre.
Through our specialised ‘cast-mate’ model, we pair people with and without disabilities to share roles on stage, working together to foster positive relationships and hone professional theatre skills. Over several months, individuals participating in the show work together as a team as they prepare to perform for thousands of show-goers.
The success we’ve had so far has shown us that we can be a catalyst for positive change in this space. Not only have we been able to provide transformative experiences for people with disabilities but also make tangible strides towards a more equitable and diverse creative arts landscape.
