Surfrider Foundation Australia is a registered not-for-profit organisation dedicated to protecting Australia’s coastlines through a model of conservation, activism, research and education. We work on local beaches, with local communities, to keep them in their natural state.

Surfrider has been a guardian of the Australian coast for over 30 years, but the past 5 years has seen Surfrider energised like never. After seeing 3 unprecedented wins against major offshore fossil fuel exploration over the past 5 years and mobilizing hundreds of thousands of ocean lovers take action with us, we are stepping up again with an even more ambitious plan: Grow our movement of coastal defenders all over Australia so that we have an army of volunteers branches who are trained and equipped to take on and win the biggest environmental threats to their coastline.

Alongside growing and developing the capacity of our community led branches, we are working towards the big picture: fighting for permanent protection of Australia’s pristine surf breaks and coastal ecosystems, safeguarding waves for future generations, while protecting and regenerating irreplaceable marine and coastal ecosystems.
