Sydney Philharmonia Choirs exists to cultivate excellence and joy in choral music. We bring together singers, audiences, artists and communities in the pursuit of powerful collective music-making, championing the enduring value of choral singing in Sydney and Australian cultural life.

Founded in 1920, SPC is Australia’s largest choral organisation and a Resident Company of the Sydney Opera House. We are a centre of excellence for choral music in Australia, presenting ambitious, high-quality performances of major choral repertoire, commissioning new works, training choral singers, and supporting emerging conductors, composers and soloists. As the long-standing chorus for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, SPC also collaborates with leading artistic partners to present major works at the highest standard.

Each year, SPC presents around 50 performances, including 18 self-presented concerts, reaching audiences of more than 18,000. Across six choirs, we provide pathways for singers from emerging artists to lifelong choristers, strengthening participation, artistic development and community connection.

SPC addresses the need for accessible, excellent and future-focused choral music in Australia. Our current priorities are to expand access to choral participation, develop the next generation of choral artists and leaders, commission Australian repertoire, and bring more communities into the shared experience of singing.

Funding will support SPC in sustaining these pathways, investing in Australian music, deepening community engagement, and ensuring choral music continues to connect, inspire, and enrich people and communities across Australia.
