Organisation Summary

The Tasmanian Bike Collective (TasBC) is a proven leader in transforming the lives of at-risk young people through hands-on learning, mentorship, and skill development. Since its beginnings 20 years ago, TasBC has empowered over 1000 young people across Southern Tasmania. The organisation creates a safe and supportive environment where vulnerable youth can re-engage with education, build critical work skills, and improve their mental and physical well-being.

Unfortunately, Tasmania has some of the lowest literacy, school engagement, labour force engagement and health statistics in the country. TasBC operates in partnership with schools, community organisations, and funding bodies to address these issues. Its evidence-based programs cater to young people facing challenges such as ADHD, ASD, low literacy, depression, anxiety, trauma, and unstable living conditions. By combining structured learning with the hands-on activity of restoring and selling bikes, TasBC fosters resilience, self-confidence, a sense of purpose, and work readiness. With a strong track record of impact and deep community connections, TasBC is the only initiative of its kind in Tasmania.
