Teach For Australia (TFA) exists to create brighter futures for students, schools, and communities. Despite Australia’s prosperity, we have one of the most inequitable education systems in the developed world: a child’s postcode too often determines their opportunities in life. Our vision is for an Australia where all children, regardless of background, have the education and choice to shape their own future.
We address this challenge by recruiting and developing exceptional people to teach and lead in schools serving low socio-economic, regional, rural, and remote communities. Our programs combine rigorous teacher preparation with paid employment, supported by ongoing coaching, mentoring, and leadership development.
Equity and diversity are central to our mission. Our teachers bring subject expertise—particularly in high-demand areas such as science, technology, engineering, and math’s—while filling real vacancies in schools with the greatest need. With more than 85% of our Alumni continuing to work in education, we are building a long-term pipeline of outstanding educators and leaders committed to tackling systemic inequity.
Since 2009, TFA has placed over 1,800 teachers in more than 600 partner schools, reaching over 650,000 students. Independent evaluations show our teachers lift student outcomes, strengthen school culture, and drive system-wide improvement.
Our priorities include growing the reach of our flagship Leadership Development Program, launching innovative pathways like the Undergraduate Teaching Pathway Pilot, and strengthening support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Funding will enable us to expand this impact—ensuring every child has the opportunity to realise their full potential.
