Organisation Summary

Leaving violence is not a single moment – it is a journey marked by fear, courage, uncertainty and hope. For many women, that journey is made more complex by the need to protect their children, keep their pets safe, and navigate systems that were never designed to feel accessible or humane. The Equanimity Project exists to change that experience.

We walk beside women at some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, offering practical support, informed advocacy and compassionate care. Our work is shaped by advocates with lived experience, trauma-based specialists, and trusted partners, alongside volunteers from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Together, we provide unwavering support to help individuals reclaim their safety, independence, wellbeing and confidence. Every person who comes to us carries their own story. That is why we never offer one-size-fits-all solutions.

Our responses are tailored to each client’s needs, priorities and pace – whether that involves safety planning, narrative validation, reporting and security support, advocacy, legal guidance, or connection to culturally appropriate services. We adopt a trauma-based, gender-responsive approach grounded in human rights and social justice. We are child-aware and proudly pet-friendly, recognising that healing must consider the whole family.

At The Equanimity Project, we go beyond conventional support – creating personalised pathways that restore dignity, strengthen agency and support lasting change.
