The Missed Foundation provides vital support to families of missing persons across Australia. With lived experience at our core, we offer essential resources, emotional care, and expert guidance. As the only charity of its kind in Australia, we rely entirely on community funding.
The Missed Foundation was established in 2013 by Loren O’Keeffe after her brother Dan went missing in July 2011. His disappearance prompted the largest campaign of its kind, leading other families to seek support. Understanding that time is critical when a loved one goes missing, Missed provides direction through our world-first Missing Persons Guide and offers practical and emotional support, including graphic design, media assistance, and legal guidance for families of long-term missing persons. Families can also engage in innovative projects like The Unmissables and our What’s Missing podcast.
Our Ambiguous Loss Masterclass trains professionals—police, media, and social workers—to compassionately support families facing this complex grief. Entirely community-funded, we work with over 80 families in Australia, earning recognition for our award-winning work.
