Performance Space is a culture-defining arts organisation based on Gadigal Land in Redfern and dedicated to the development and presentation of radical and genre-defying art and performance. For more than 40 years, they have supported experimental and interdisciplinary practices across various art forms, including queer practices, independent dance, devised performance, new media and experimental sound. Both deeply embedded in their local communities and networked nationally and internationally, Performance Space plays a crucial role in positioning Sydney as a hub for innovative arts in the Asia-Pacific.

Performance Space’s annual program is dedicated to supporting risk-taking artists through labs, residencies and exchanges, and sharing this work with audiences through showings, presentations and events. Their biennial festival of live art, Liveworks, draws artists and audiences from around the world to experience the future of performance, dance, sound and music, installation, and experimentation. For over ten years, Liveworks has been a platform for risk-taking creative practice and a launchpad for many of our region’s most exciting artists.

With a dedicated focus on the Asia-Pacific and its diasporas, Performance Space’s program shares dynamic and urgent art from our region and beyond. With over 40 years of experience, they have consistently pushed the boundaries of what art is, what it can do, and who it is for, underlining their role as a cultural leader at home and abroad.
