The South Burnett Pantry

The South Burnett Pantry is a predominantly volunteer run, community not-for-profit organisation based in the South Burnett region of Queensland. Our purpose is simple and human: to ensure that individuals and families experiencing hardship have access to food with dignity, respect, and choice.

Our vision is a community where no one goes without the basics. Our mission is to relieve food insecurity and reduce the risk of homelessness by providing consistent, reliable food support to people experiencing or at risk of socio-economic disadvantage.

The Pantry responds to the growing impact of cost-of-living pressures, housing stress, unemployment, illness, and crisis events. We support people who may be living without stable housing, in temporary accommodation, or one unexpected bill away from crisis. Food insecurity is often the first visible sign of deeper hardship, and timely food support plays a critical role in stabilising households and preventing further decline.

We are well placed to deliver this work due to our strong local partnerships, volunteer workforce, food rescue networks, and deep understanding of the South Burnett community. Our service model prioritises dignity, flexibility, and practical support tailored to individual and family needs.

Our current priorities include strengthening food security, improving cold-chain and storage capacity, supporting sustainable volunteer operations, and expanding our ability to respond to rising demand. Funding directly supports food procurement, operational infrastructure, volunteer coordination, and service continuity.

Each week, The Pantry supports hundreds of local people through direct food relief, contributing to improved wellbeing, household stability, and community resilience.
