Field of Interest
- Health/wellbeing and medical research
- Social inclusion and justice
Target Population
- Asylum seekers, refugees, migrants and people from CALD backgrounds
The Water Well Project is an award-winning health promotion charity improving health literacy and access to healthcare for people from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds.
We bridge this gap through free, culturally responsive health education sessions that empower individuals to understand and manage their health with confidence. Co-designed with community leaders and support organisations, our sessions are delivered by AHPRA-registered volunteer healthcare professionals and supported by accredited interpreters to ensure cultural safety and accessibility.
The Water Well Project has delivered more than 2,000 sessions to over 30,000 people in 41 languages through partnerships with more than 60 community organisations. By improving health literacy, we reduce avoidable pressure on the healthcare system and ensure everyone, regardless of background, feels informed, supported and empowered to care for themselves and their families.
