The Tiwi Islands Training and Employment Board (TITEB) was established in 1999 by the Tiwi Land Council to coordinate training and employment activities across the Tiwi Islands.
It is owned and managed by a Tiwi Board of Directors and is nationally registered as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) under the Australian Quality Training Framework. TITEB’s mission is to strengthen the Tiwi community and economy through lifelong learning, employment, and allied education services. It serves as a vital link between employers, stakeholders, services and job seekers and community members on the Tiwi Islands.
TITEB delivers a wide range of programs tailored to the needs of Tiwi communities:
• Community Development Program (CDP): Supports unemployed job seekers receiving government payments through employment and community activities.
• Registered Training Organisation (RTO): Offers accredited and non-accredited training programs, including Pre employment preparation and Certificates I and II in a range of Accredited training see training.gov.au for our full scope
• Group Training Organisation (GTO): Coordinates apprenticeships and traineeships with local employers to maximise skills-based competency into the Tiwi Islands labor markets
• Engagement, Education and Attainment Initiatives (EEAI): The Tiwi School Support Service works closely with families to improve school attainment/attendance outcomes for the 5 schools on the Tiwi Islands.
TITEB also facilitates 2 whole community events, and alternates these each year, the Adult Training Graduation is due to be held in August 2026 and the next TITEB Futures Expo (46 stall holders) will be held in May 2027
