For over 54 years, the Total Environment Centre (TEC) has partnered with communities and organisations to protect ecosystems and healthy landscapes across Australia.

Our vision is a world where nature is a priority in every decision, with a fairer, greener world for all. We are independent, community-driven, and solution-focused, using evidence-based advocacy, policy influence, media, and community mobilisation to create lasting systemic change.

We turn research and community insights into solutions tackling habitat fragmentation, urban biodiversity loss, waste, plastic pollution, and advocacy gaps. Our programs include protecting wildlife corridors for koalas and threatened species, embedding Blue-Green Grids to connect urban parks and tree canopy for climate resilience, tackling microplastic pollution with Australia’s largest citizen science dataset, advocating for the circular economy, and developing legal and policy pathways to recognise the rights of nature.

We engage communities through citizen scientist training and strategic partnerships with NGOs, universities, councils, and local groups. This ensures our programs are impactful, scalable, and responsive to emerging environmental challenges, fostering collaboration and shared learning. As a lean organisation, we have achieved 100+ eco-victories.

We are working to expand these initiatives to protect habitats, restore ecosystems, strengthen environmental laws, and train the next generation of environmental leaders.
