VANISH (www.vanish.org.au) is a specialist support and advocacy organisation dedicated to assisting individuals and families affected by adoption and family separation – including those who survived historical forced adoptions, spent time in state care or are donor conceived. VANISH has provided compassionate, expert support for more than three decades, empowering people to reclaim their identity and history, connect with lost family members, and navigate the complex emotional impact of family separation across the lifespan. Our work is essential in addressing the historical and ongoing effects of forced adoption and child removal policies in Australia and addressing the stigma that was imposed by society on people impacted by these practices.

We are seeking partners who can assist us to:
– Invest in digital transformation to improve the accessibility of our services
– Implement comprehensive monitoring and evaluation systems to measure our impact and continuously improve our services
– Secure a new accessible office space that better meets the needs of our community, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all who seek our support
– Develop new resources and programs tailored to the needs of younger people including intercountry adoptees and people living with the intergenerational impacts of forced adoption, including the children and grandchildren of adoptees
– Strengthen our peer support networks across metropolitan, rural and regional Victoria
– Scale our education, awareness-raising, and advocacy initiatives to drive greater public understanding of the impacts of adoption and family separation to create long lasting systemic reform.
