Way Forward Debt Solutions

Way Forward is a national not-for-profit charity supporting Australians experiencing long-term financial hardship to regain control of their finances.

We work with people whose debts have become unmanageable and negotiate affordable repayment plans directly with their creditors. Each client makes one simple, sustainable payment to Way Forward and we then distribute those funds pro rata to creditors. By combining a realistic budget with a single, manageable payment, we help reduce stress, restore stability and create a pathway back to financial wellbeing.

We are currently assisting more than 1,300 clients across Australia. Many people come to us at moments of acute stress, with some facing particularly vulnerable circumstances, including family and domestic violence or illness.

Our model is based on the highly successful UK charity StepChange and has been adapted to the Australian context. Importantly, our services are completely free for clients. We are funded through contributions from major creditors who recognise the value of fair, sustainable solutions for people in hardship.

At its heart, Way Forward exists to ensure that people in financial difficulty are treated with respect — and given a genuine opportunity to move forward.
