Way of the Horse Coaching Inc is a not-for-profit organisation providing Equine Led Social and Emotional Learning (ELSEL) programmes. We support vulnerable young people and women who are at risk of disengagement from education, employment and community.

The Issue
Too many young people and women face disconnection, low self-esteem, and barriers to community and mainstream services. Without support, this can lead to long-term disadvantage in education, employment, and wellbeing.

Why Horses?
Horses act as partners in learning, offering honest feedback through their sensitivity to body language and energy. Their presence encourages authentic connection, emotional regulation, empathy, and leadership. Facilitators guide reflection while ensuring the horse’s welfare, creating a safe, trauma-informed, and evidence-based environment.

Our Approach
Set in nature, our programmes align with the CASEL Social and Emotional Learning framework and are designed to foster confidence, self-esteem, and communication skills. Participants learn to manage emotions, build resilience, and develop positive relationships, skills that translate into education, employment, and community life.

Our Impact
Independent research shows that social and emotional learning improves resilience, mental health, and long-term outcomes. Our participants report increased confidence, improved emotional regulation, clearer communication, and stronger decision-making. Many have successfully re-engaged with school, work, or community.
