Willan Foundation (WF) assists Aboriginal people to identify and deal with issues that are impacting on their ability to gain meaningful employment and be actively involved and connected to both the Aboriginal and wider community.
We work with groups and individuals in phased program delivery. Participants connected to WF are linked to an individual and skills needs matrix that can then inform the required support, immediately or long term. In partnership with our networks, we provide support in the following areas: justice related issues, accommodation, health, financial/debt counselling to enable individuals to be able to be employment ready and focus on training.
WF was founded by Uncle Ricky Morris, Director and Kaelun Brown, former Director of Pathways Plumbing (PP) a 100% owned and run Aboriginal Plumbing Company. PP is well known to the Aboriginal Community for supporting young men who struggled to obtain and maintain work. PP ran a number of Guiding Spirits Programs to prepare men for work by tackling the issues preventing young men from obtaining employment. These were very successful, and many participants went on to obtain their apprenticeship and remain employed. Referrals come from Aboriginal Community Controlled organisations.
The Willan Guiding Spirits Program has just won the construction industry 2025 Training Employer of the Year award.
