Organisation Summary

Woor-Dungin is an alliance of Aboriginal organisations and Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal individuals that work together for self-determination, community development, reconciliation and advocacy. Since its inception in 2015, Woor-Dungin has assisted a diverse range of Aboriginal community-led organisations from across Victoria to access the funding and pro-bono support they have required to grow from fledgling groups of committed individuals to thriving community hubs with the capacity and resources to respond to local needs. We call this vital intermediary work our “Aboriginal Partnership Program.” As a fundamental and foundational principal, we are guided by the priorities of our Aboriginal partners. In response to their appeal for our advocacy, we initiated the Criminal Records Discrimination Project in 2016 and this work gave rise to the introduction of a legislated spent convictions scheme in Victoria. It also earnt Woor-Dungin the 2018 Indigenous Philanthropy Award from Philanthropy Australia.

Our success as an organisation saw us winning the 2023 Volunteering Victoria award for Volunteering Partnerships of the Year and we were selection by the Victorian Premier to receive the Premier’s Volunteering Excellence Organisation of the Year.
