Organisation Summary

Working It Out is Tasmania’s only dedicated sexuality, gender and intersex support, education and advocacy service. Working It Out provides support for LGBTQIA+ Tasmanians as well as education and capacity building for schools, workplaces, government and non-government organisations.

We are currently delivering a world-leading program called Better Lives, a project to support understanding of people with innate variations of sex characteristics in a wide range of professions including medicine, nursing, midwifery, and education. This award-winning program only has limited funding, but it has so much more work to do. You can read more about the project here.

While funding Better Lives beyond the end of 2025 is a current priority, there is so much more work our organisation could do for LGBTQIA+ Tasmanians with further untied funding. Our communities struggle with isolation and visibility, and general understanding and acceptance in the community. Providing education and awareness across all sectors of the community is something we are very well placed to do, with experienced and passionate educators with plenty of ideas about how we can expand our reach across Tasmania.
