Emerge Youth
Day Programs

GOAL
$40,000
Field of Interest
- Housing and homelessness
- Individual/family services and support
Target Population
- Young people (6-25)
- Not applicable

Emerge exists to help young people, primarily aged between 13 – 17.
We provide:
- Accommodation for young people experiencing homelessness or housing stress,
- Access to education and employment services and opportunities,
- Connection with health care providers and ongoing health and wellbeing management,
- Assistance to reduce touch points with the justice system,
- Overall, wrap around support to improve the lives of young people in a holistic way.
We monitor and report on the outcomes of our work through our Impact Measurement Framework (IMF), which involves taking note of key indicators for young people upon entry to Emerge, and again at exit.
These indicators include:
- Involvement with the criminal justice system.
- Substance misuse.
- Unstable/unsafe housing.
- Mental health conditions.
- Cognitive disability (for example disability/learning disorder or neurodiverse).
- Physical health condition.
- Social isolation from peers.
- Disengagement from education/training/work.
- Disconnection from community.
We operate out of the Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba, with young people coming to us from throughout Queensland and interstate. In Toowoomba, we have a house that is staffed on a 24/7 basis, and at the Sunshine Coast, we also have a house operating in the same manner, as well as a social enterprise café. In conjunction with accommodation and wrap around support, our team facilitate Day Programs for the young people in our network. These Day Programs are tailored to each cohort that accesses Emerge and include physical fitness, hospitality and trade based skills.
Project Summary
Currently, a need exists for a circuit breaker style Day Program, to encourage positive life choices in young people, through intervention and then reconnection with self, access to mentors, and development of skills. Through this program, young people will become better equipped for further education and employment, and report positive improvements across multiple other IMF markers.
We are seeking $40,000.00 towards a Day Program, which will be held across a five month period in late 2025 or early 2026, and be accessed by up to 20 young people. Through the program, young people will learn physical fitness, hospitality and trade based skills.
Our current resources include a gymnasium and boxing ring, café and workshop. We also have a skilled and experienced team of Youth Workers. If received, we would utilise the funding towards wages for Youth Workers to facilitate this Day Program.
Project Outcomes
Positive improvement across multiple IMF markers, being tracked from entry to Emerge, to exit:
- Involvement with the criminal justice system.
- Substance misuse.
- Unstable/unsafe housing.
- Mental health conditions.
- Cognitive disability (for example disability/learning disorder or neurodiverse).
- Physical health condition.
- Social isolation from peers.
- Disengagement from education/training/work.
- Disconnection from community.
