Project Summary

Here at the Graceville Centre, we offer comprehensive mental health services across the Sunshine Coast region based from our office in Nambour. Recovery for individuals living with mental health issues is focused on they can gain the life skills to live their best life.

We work within a recovery oriented approach that incorporates the principles of hope, personal responsibility, connectedness, discovery and developing an active sense of self. Our mental health clinicians provide care coordination and support that is recovery-focused. We consult with primary and acute care providers, family and other services to improve integration and achieve better outcomes for our participants.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a gold standard, evidence-based cognitive behavioural therapy developed by Marsha Linehan. This program teaches skills around four main concepts of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness and is commonly used to treat suicidal behaviours, depression, anxiety and other severe and complex mental health disorders including emotion dysregulation.

Project Outcomes

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is a proven approach that helps people achieve emotional stability and decrease stress. The overall goal of skills training is to help participants accept and change behaviour which has shown to reduce suicidal attempts and number of hospital admissions.
