Farm It Forward Inc
Farm It Forward is a youth organisation that facilitates the usage of public high school land for soil regeneration and food growing, focusing on schools in socially disadvantaged areas. We run and co-design nature-based food growing and health programs for high school aged young people that focus on care-full transition to regenerative ways of being and growing. Our pilot project in the Blue Mountains started in 2019 and continues to thrive.
We are dedicated to empowering young people through sustainable food production and trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, co-designed nature-based well-being programs. Our vision encompasses fostering mental and physical health in young people, providing education in regenerative agriculture, and providing them with a take-home wellbeing toolkit building greater community health and resilience.
Project Summary
The Growing Together project includes rolling out our culturally aware, trauma informed nature-based learning programs in three additional high schools.
This includes:
- Running an affordable local fresh food program in three Blue Mountains high schools
- Running our ‘Nature, Craft and Connection’ program in three additional public high schools
Project Outcomes
- Enhanced student wellbeing and social, physical, mental health outcomes
- Enhanced youth community engagement
- Strong, culturally appropriate fresh food practices
- Take-home nature-based wellbeing toolkit for young people, improving health outcomes into the future
