Edgarley Assisted Living is a community based, not for profit aged care facility based in Casterton in Western Victoria. The facility was established in 1955 and now caters for 60 residents and 22 independent living units. We are overseen by a Board of volunteer directors drawn from the local community, with day-to-day operations being managed by a full time Chief Executive Officer.
We provide residential aged care services to the rural community, enabling residents to remain in the community that they have lived in the entire lives. Being a Not for Profit stand alone organisation we rely upon Grants to assist us in maintaining our services.Funding a rebuild project will ensure that Edgarley continues into the future providing the best quality care services to this rural community meeting the needs of our ageing population, where so many rural health/aged services are closing due to crumbling infrastructure and insufficient staff Edgarley is continuing to keep the doors open.
Project Summary
EHI currently has 22 independent living units, residents receive HCCP and assorted services directly from EHI. The independent living units however are over 30 years old and are in need of significant modernization to accommodate the declining health of the population in the local community, and for those that can still live in an independent living environment with intermittent / occasional care.
Building new units will allow for EHI to cater further to more diverse range of residents over the age of 60, giving access to modern environmentally friending living areas that are disability friendly. The development will allow for a more integrated and inclusive environment for our residents encouraging the interaction between independent living and residential aged care.
Project Outcomes
Being able to provide appropriate accommodation will also allow for EHI to build partnerships with local Disability services such as Kyeema in Portland for NDIS clients wanting to live independently who fit the EHI criteria, mission and philosophy of meeting the needs of the Casterton and wider community. This investment will improve the financial footing of EHI by providing new, quality-built accommodation and assist in the long jevity of the organisation.. Allowing for the residents of the community to stay in their community and not have to seek care services that are hours away from there families.
