Aussie Ark is New South Wales’ largest independently operated conservation charity. Founded in 2010 to prevent the extinction of the Tasmanian Devil, the initiative grew and rebranded in 2019 as Aussie Ark. Now proudly entering its 15th year of operation, the organisation has become one of the most ambitious and successful wildlife recovery programs in the Southern Hemisphere. Today, Aussie Ark specialises in threatened species recovery, responding directly to Australia’s biodiversity crisis. The organisation delivers over 40 active conservation projects, protecting more than 17 priority threatened species. Our main operation the Barrington Wildlife Sanctuary is located adjacent the beautiful World Heritage-listed Barrington Tops in the Upper Hunter region in NSW. We also have "Conservation Ark' located at the Reptile Park on the Central Coast NSW, to cater for species that are not suited for high altitude environment such as our frog, snake and turtle programs. The vision of Aussie Ark is to establish a robust insurance population of Australian threatened species such as the Tasmanian Devil, Eastern Quoll, Brush Tailed Rock Wallaby and Long-nosed Potoroo, suitable for semi-wild release into large, predator-proof fenced sanctuaries for eventual reintroduction to the wild, or in the case of our Turtles, back into the river systems where they came from.
MISSION: To protect Australia's threatened species with robust insurance populations, to create healthy ecosystems within Aussie Ark sanctuaries and through rewilding, to have long term tangible outcomes for the species in our care. To be proactive, professional, transparent and effective organisation.

Project Summary
