CNCISS is an independent, incorporated association governed by a Board of Management that comprises local business, service providers and community representatives and leaders. CNCISS offers a suite of wrap-around support services and provides excellent linkages and referral points to people approaching us for support and information services. Programs are staffed by both qualified professional staff, and a well-trained volunteer team. This model incorporates core services including the provision of community information, referral and advocacy services, social work and counselling, emergency relief, financial counselling and financial capability, microfinance NILS, outreach information and support services, and relationship strengthening for families.
Particularly programs have been developed to assist people suffering disadvantage and financial hardship. This one-stop-shop suite of services successfully supports individuals and families with any immediate financial and personal crises they may be facing, as well as aiming to improve client’s life skills, capacity to make informed decisions, forge links with other relevant support services, and improve their skills and abilities to manage any future crises. All programs are offered free of charge. Other key agencies co-locate with us to improve access for clients when and if they are required, however space for this is very limited.

CNCISS has also developed a range of information resources including a variety of guides and online information. In-house programs provide support to people presenting in crisis, financial distress and in need of support to overcome what are often very complex issues.

Project Summary

We are a small team of 12 staff and 14 volunteers assisting those who are struggling to make ends meet in the City of Casey. We are in dire need of more modern computers and laptops, headphones for our phone system and hubs to allow us to be more flexible in our work practices. We currently work on very old hardware and second-hand screens that are often quite fuzzy giving us headaches.

In the post COVID era, many would like to work with us online, but our computer systems are not all up to that task. In addition, the existing workstations are slow and unwieldy and do not allow flexibility – for example, you cannot move into a private space with your computer to discuss a client’s needs and you cannot meet a client online.

We would like to purchase 7 hubs, 7 laptops, 7 screens, 7 mouse and keyboards and 7 sets of headphones to replace our existing equipment, an example of which is pictured above. These would replace existing that are used by our volunteers.

Project Outcomes

We expect that this project will equip our volunteers with the appropriate tools needed to do their work with our disadvantaged clients more efficiently and effectively.
