StreetSmart Australia
At StreetSmart, for the past 20 years, we have championed and supported local grassroots organisations providing services to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This focus came out of the direct experience of our Founder, Adam Robinson, working in smaller front-line community services and seeing how they provided vital support services and strengthened local communities, yet were under-resourced by Governments, while experiencing real barriers to fundraising, including lack of capacity to make formal applications for funding. We know local leaders, volunteers and community groups are best placed to identify what support their communities need, and have solutions and mechanisms in place that work for them and their community. They are the lifeblood of our suburbs, towns and regions and play a critical role in innovating, creating change, and building caring and resilient communities.
To date StreetSmart has distributed over $12 million in funding across 1000+ community project supporting homelessness, and we still operate at a local, grassroots level to fund critical services.
We Believe: everyone should have a safe and secure place to call home. It is a basic human right. Ending homelessness will take a whole of community response.
We Empower: through innovative campaigns we enable and empower communities to raise vital funds and awareness to bring about change for people experiencing homelessness or at risk.
We Support: we keep it grassroots, we keep it local. We seek out, support and partner with small organisations and projects, in the communities where funds are raised.

Our EOFY Winter Appeal 2025 is raising funds for people experiencing homelessness.
The shortage of affordable rentals is fuelling Australia’s cost-of-living and homelessness crisis. Over the past year, many grassroots community organisations have seen demand for support nearly double – just as donations decline. Yet much of this crisis remains hidden. Think – older women sleeping in cars, children in crisis shelters, young people couch surfing, and individuals living in unsafe or overcrowded conditions often go UNSEEN.
Many suffer in silence, concealing their struggles from colleagues, friends and family. With housing affordability continuing to fall, even people in work are being pushed into homelessness- many for the first time.
Project Outcomes
This May and June, our EOFY Winter Appeal will direct critical funds to frontline grassroots services providing life-saving and lifechanging support.
Donors can choose to invest in one of three key impact areas,
ensuring their contribution makes a meaningful difference where it’s needed most.
Outreach and Drop-In Services: donations will help provide critical
assertive outreach, healthcare and drop-in services.
Immediate Care and Support: donations will help provide free
showers and laundry facilities, hygiene products, hot nutritious meals, warm clothing and other essentials.
Shelter and Housing: donations will help provide access to temporary and crisis housing, or help set up new homes with household essentials.
