Divers for Climate

Divers for Climate (DFC) is a national community of divers, ocean advocates, and marine tourism professionals working together to drive climate action for people and oceans. Our vision is a climate-resilient dive community in a thriving ocean. Our mission is to empower the dive community to influence climate action by building connections, increasing capacity, and shifting narratives so that climate solutions reflect the voices of those closest to the ocean.

DFC reframes climate narratives, building adaptive capacity, and supporting the leadership of those with their heads and hearts in the sea. We believe that if the dive community is equipped and empowered to influence climate action, and when public and policy narratives on ocean-climate issues promote hope, agency, and opportunity, the dive community will become a powerful force that advocates for climate solutions that protect people and oceans.

Since launching in late 2023, DFC has mobilised 4,000+ diver supporters, engaged 30+ industry partners, hosted 22 meetings with local, state and federal decision-makers, and delivered national-scale impact with minimal core funding. Our highlights include Australia’s first Snorkel Out for Climate, a national database of almost 1000 diver experiences of climate change, a dedicated speech in federal parliament, and 18 diver spokespeople featured in national and regional media.
