The Victorian National Parks Association is an effective and influential not-for-profit, non-government and membership-based nature conservation organisation that has led the creation, protection and defence of Victoria’s natural estate for over 70 years. VNPA advocates for evidence-based policy to safeguard wildlife, habitat and protected areas.
As Victoria’s leading conservation organisation, we work to:
- Create: We work permanently protect nature by filling in the gaps in Victoria’s conservation estate, and are working towards new national parks and protected areas in the Central west, Central Highlands, East Gippsland, Western Port, and for our grassland, marine and alpine regions.
- Protect: We are working with community groups to ensure nature and our park estate are safeguarded with strong laws, proper management and increased funding.
- Defend: We actively monitor government policy, meet with our elected representatives and hold our decision makers to account in order to ward off inappropriate development, exploitation and other threats.
- Connect: We run Victoria’s most comprehensive set of citizen science and community engagement programs, including our Bushwalking program, Nature Stewards, Reef Watch and Nature Watch, helping communities connect and care for nature.
