Project Summary

QArt Studio and Gallery, operated by Endeavour Foundation is a vibrant social enterprise in Melbourne’s creative hub of Kew, providing employment, training and mentoring for professional artists with intellectual and physical disabilities. For over 20 years, QArt has fostered artistic growth and inclusivity across the visual arts, creating pathways for artists to thrive while breaking down barriers and celebrating diversity. Through the display and sale of art works locally and internationally, the studio redefines perceptions of disability and strengthens community engagement. QArt celebrates artists of all abilities, empowering creativity, self-expression, and the opportunity to thrive.

QArt seeks support to deliver an innovative project that combines creativity and sustainability. Our goal is to minimise the studio’s environmental footprint while expanding artistic opportunities for our community of artists. With investment in eco-friendly technologies including a mini pug mill, laser engraver and desktop cardboard recycling machine, we will transform site waste into sustainable artworks, products and packaging materials. These tools will eliminate hazardous processes while reducing waste, energy use and operational costs, creating high-quality, environmentally responsible outcomes.

This initiative will give artists with disability new avenues for creative expression, build skills with cutting edge technologies, and enable the creation of sustainable works with commercial potential. Guided by its commitment to inclusion, creativity and innovation, QArt will demonstrate the power of art to drive sustainable practices to global challenges.

Project Outcomes

At QArt, our ethos is to innovate and reimagine materials in creative, sustainable ways. By creating products that minimise environmental impact, we strengthen ethical practice, showcase creativity and empower our artists. Through this project, QArt will join inclusive art practices with sustainability, delivering measurable outcomes that benefit both our artists and the environment. By introducing new eco-friendly technologies into the studio, we will expand opportunities for artists with disability while reducing waste and generating innovative products.

Key Project Outcomes:
• Train artists with disability – Deliver hands-on training in sustainable art practices, equipping artists with new skills, fostering creative growth and raising environmental awareness.
• Develop new sustainable product lines – Introduce a pug mill and laser engraver to transform studio waste into creative works and products, generating new revenue streams for the gallery and online store.
• Recycle cardboard waste – Install a recycling machine to significantly reduce cardboard waste and repurpose it into packaging for storing and sending artworks and products.

Project Success Measures:
• 40% reduction in studio waste
• 2 new sustainable product lines launched and available for sale
• 10 artists trained and engaging in sustainable art practices

Beyond these tangible outcomes, this initiation will raise community awareness of how inclusive art and sustainability can thrive together. It will show that when people of all abilities are supported with the right tools and opportunities, they can create work that is not only meaningful and commercially viable, but also environmentally responsible.
